Gurudev Sri Swarupananda Brahmachari

Sri Swarupananda Brahmachari, the erstwhile Yogacharya Tapan Basu Mahasaya, is a living enlightened guru in the Mahavatar Babaji and Yogiraj Sri Shyamacharan Lahiri Mahasaya Kriyayoga tradition. Gurudev was born on March 8, 1954, in Habibpur village, Nadia district, West Bengal. He is referred to as Premavatar by his disciples and followers due to his embodiment of magnanimity, compassion, and love.
He has guided a multitude of fortunate individuals into the divine regal knowledge of Kriyayoga. “The Kriyayoga Mission” was founded by him in Kolkata. At the age of eight, Gurudev, who had a deep spiritual longing since childhood, was initiated into Kriyayoga by Paramahamsa Hariharananda, a famous Kriya Guru who came from the same hamlet as Gurudev. Hariharananda Baba progressively introduced him to all of the more advanced Kriyayoga techniques, and he was bestowed the spiritual name Swarupananda.
At his young age, his guru ordained him as a Yogacharya, and he was initiated into Brahmacharya and Sannyas (monkhood) on April 19, 1979. Consequently, Swarupananda Brahmachari became his new name. Gurudev wedded Smritikana Basu (referred to as “Guruma” by the disciples) in accordance with the intentions of His cherished Guru, Paramahamsa Hariharananda, and commenced the life of a householder yogi.
Baba began experiencing various phases of Samadhi in the early 1990s. Before ultimately settling into the Nirvikalpa state, or complete communion with God, he cycled in and out of these Samadhi states for a while.
Gurudav has had the privilege of being in the presence of distinguished sages from a variety of well-known Indian spiritual traditions. Sri Omkarnathji, Sri Atmadev Avadhut, and sages from the Bharat Sevashram Sangh were among his intimate acquaintances. He is one of the most sought-after spiritual gurus of our era due to his selfless service for the spiritual upliftment of humanity and his persistent efforts to propagate the teachings of his gurus.
